Argyle apartments are near the end of the North Fork of the New River. The apartments lie off Argyle Drive. North, the apartments run right up to the Broward Boulevard bridge which terminates the North Fork. South and eastward curves Argyle Drive, the apartments namesake. At the south end of Argyle Drive is a canal with private houses cut into the east bank of the North Fork. To the west is I-95 and Ft. Lauderdale’s historic African American district. South along the west bank of the North fork are Gill Isles. Further south is the 11th Avenue swing bridge. Argyle is best known for the least expensive liveaboard dockage in Ft. Lauderdale. It is zoned for liveaboard, and three apartment complexes take advantage.

The area has good draft and is home to many sailboats even up to the Broward bridge. Although lying along the main North Fork, the apartments are so far down river that the water is relatively safe for hurricanes. The docks are end nosed. You tie up one side to the east bank dock. The other end you tie to a mooring.

The only question is the rough neighborhood. John, who runs one of the liveaboard apartments and has 6 slips available, has a locked gate and well protected area. No place is safe in the world is perfectly safe. You have to always be careful.

"Tom Harney and Jordan Yacht and Ship Co MADE OUR SALE. They positioned our Hylas 45.5 Sloop, "Wild Hair," in the world’s epicenter of sailboat sales, coached us in readying the boat, stored the dinghy and other bulky items offsite, produced a top-notch sales video, and—within a month—found our buyer. Then, when the survey revealed thorny deal-killers, they protected our “bottom line” by helping pull exhaust hoses, re-bed deck fittings, and changing lifelines. Since our previous listing agent was a passive paper pusher, we never dreamed a brokerage would work so hard!" - Heather & Dave Mann, Hylas 45.5 SV Wild Hair
