Brokerage Report Winter 2012

Filed under: Brokerage Report — Richard Jordan @ 12:00 am

Nearly Full Docks at Royale Palm

Winter this year in Lauderdale was pretty temperate with few cold fronts dropping temperatures sub-50 degrees Farenheit. With that we had a better year of snowbirds with Royale Palm reaching near full capacity for the first time since ’08. That was a clear sign to me that the economy must be flattening out, so I am again optimistic that sales this year will be more tempid than last. We have a handful of deals in progress which further gives me positive vibes.

Events of note this Winter at Jordan included the premier of Scotia Yachts at Miami Strictly Sail two weeks ago and a significant amount of time on the road for brokers including me. Upgrades in infrastructure included a launch of a mobile version of this website. If you are surfing on a smartphone you should be redirected to m.jordanyachts.com. Tablets will still be served the desktop version. Buyers continue to be Canadians, Americans, and South Americans with continued stagnation in Europe. We had a good deal of activity during the holidays which was unusual though much of that interest seemed to be long-term looking clients visiting family and friends. People are still pushing back retirement or unable to commit.

Looking forward into Spring 2012, yachts will continue to cruise the Bahamas, and yacht sales should kick into high gear. It is the time of year when New Englanders start seeing the change in seasons and get an irresistible inch to go sailing. On the blogfront, I plan to write more yacht reviews. They take a good deal of research, but readers seem to like them and respond with comments and call. Please keep checking this space and hopefully I will come up with some entertaining and informative posts.

Joke of the Week
The day after his wife disappeared in a kayaking accident, an Anchorage man answered his door to find two grim faced Alaska State Troopers.

“We’re sorry Mr. Wilkins, but we have some information about your wife”, said one of the troopers.

“Tell me! Did you find her?” Wilkins exclaimed.

The troopers looked at each other. One said, “We have some bad news, some good news, and some really great news. Which would you like to hear first?”

Fearing the worst, the ashen Mr. Wilkins said, “Give me the bad news first.”

The trooper said, “I’m sorry to tell you, sir, but this morning we found your wife’s body in Kachemak Bay.”

“Oh my God!” exclaimed Wilkins. Swallowing hard, he asked, “What’s the good news?”

The trooper continued, “When we pulled her up, she had 12 twenty-five-pound king crabs and 6 good-sized Dungeness crabs clinging to her, and we feel you are entitled to a share in the catch.”

Stunned, Mr. Wilkins demanded, “If that’s the good news…then what’s the great news?”

The trooper replied, “We’re going to pull her up again tomorrow.
